Amending your survey structure

The survey structure consists of the pages, questions, notes and section titles in your Survey builder, along with any routing, screening and/or pre-population options applied to those items.

While you survey is still in the ‘Draft’ stage, you can change any element of its structure.  Once a survey has been launched, certain changes cannot be made (regardless of whether the survey is scheduled, open or closed).

To edit, copy, move or delete an item:

• Edit a page title, section title, note or question by clicking on the Edit icon alongside it.
• Copy a page, section title, note or question by:
  • clicking on the  Actions icon;
  • selecting Copy from the drop-down menu; and
  • clicking on Insert here at the required place in your survey. You will be asked to confirm this action.
• Move a page, section title, note or question by:
  • clicking on the Actions icon;
  • selecting Move from the drop-down menu; and
  • clicking on Insert here at the required place in your survey. You will be asked to confirm this action.
• Delete a page, section title, note or question by:
  • clicking on the Actions icon; and
  • selecting Delete from the drop-down menu. You will be asked to confirm this action.

To copy an element from one survey to another:

1. Click on the  Actions icon and select Copy from the drop-down menu.
2. Go back to the Dashboard  and go to the Design page of another survey.
3. Click Insert here at the required place in the survey. You will be asked to confirm this action.

To convert a question into a different question type:

1. Click on the  Question actions icon next to the question
2. Select Convert to… (choose the appropriate question type). You will only be offered conversions that are available for that question type.
   These are:
   • Multiple choice (single answer) to Multiple choice (multiple answer) or Selection list.
   • Multiple choice (multiple answer) to Multiple choice (single answer) or Selection list.
   • Selection list to Multiple choice (multiple answer) or Multiple choice (single answer).
   • Single-line free text to Multi-line free text.
   • Multi-line free text to Single-line free text.
   • Scale/Rank to Grid.
