Unlike other survey tools, BOS does not limit the number of questions, pages or other elements that an author can add to their surveys. However, we rely on our users to employ common sense and design surveys in such a manner that they do not become too large and too cumbersome.
If a survey has become too large and unmanageable, BOS supplies a warning at the top of both the Design page and the Distribute page. If a survey author sees this message, they should seriously reconsider their survey design.
Adding an unusual number of elements to a survey can slow down the editing and analysis interfaces. More importantly, the survey may run slowly for participants.
In extreme cases, editing or running unusually large surveys can affect the experience of other BOS users. In such instances we may take the following steps:
- We will contact the user to ask them to redesign their survey.
- If the user does not take steps to follow the BOS Support team’s advice, we will contact the account’s Primary Contact to ask them to resolve the situation.
- If the user doesn’t take steps to address the issue following advice from the Primary Contact, we may suspend the user’s account.
We take this approach in an attempt to find the right balance for our users. We will continue to review this policy and welcome any feedback.
